Nazca Peru Hand Painted Terra Cotta Folk Art Bowl (Sold)

Nazca Peru Hand Painted Terra Cotta Folk Art Bowl

Sold – Thank You – $35.00

When we first spotted this small, hand made, hand painted bowl, we immediately thought of the lines of Nazca in Peru, those mysterious huge ancient figures and lines drawn on the plains of Nazca and only discovered in the 1930’s. The bowl is about 4 3/4 inches in diameter and 2 inches high. It’s made of terra cotta clay that has been painted with a black background and decorated with lines of brick red and flesh. There are 2 figures of what may represent the sun and two figures of what appear to be an amphibian of some type, all of which are also delineated in flesh color. Probably made in the second half of the twentieth century, it’s in superb condition and just waiting to be added to an ethnic folk art collection.
