Art Glass Atomic Design Centerpiece Bowl Ribbed and Iridescent

Blue Glass Rippled Bowl-Inside view-2032 x 1524-jpg.JPG

This spectacular ice blue bowl with its inverted, flared form is a classic Atomic style 1960’s piece of art glass. It has both a pleated, ribbed exterior and a smooth, iridized interior. The iridescence produces the usual rainbow of colors and is fascinating to watch in changing light. The semi-opaque exterior has a very narrow, tactile ribbing, with the ribs very close together and visible as a rayed effect from the inside of the bowl. This centerpiece is possibly Murano, reminiscent of some of the vintage pieces from Yalos, but without a label…

The bowl measures 10 inches across the top and 3 1/2 inches tall. It rests on a 3 inch round base with a foot rim. The interior of the bowl has two tiny seed size raised bubbles from the glassmaking process; otherwise it’s in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or marring of the surfaces. It’s a great complement to mid mod interiors.
