The publication dates for these antiquarian books range from 1901 to 1936; two are first editions and one is signed by the co-author. “The Seminoles of Florida” is a scarce book, written by a woman who lived among the Seminole Indians in Florida in the late 1800’s, that includes amazing black and white photographs and a vocabulary list with meanings of Seminole words. “The Green Gate to the Sea” is a children’s story of beach exploration with charming drawings. “The Sea-Beach at Ebb-Tide” is ‘…designed to be an aid to the amateur collector and student of the organisms, both animal and vegetable, which are found on North American beaches.’ (quote from page v). The preface of “Florida Sea Shells” states that ‘the authors have endeavored to meet an ever-increasing demand for material concerning Florida shore life.’ (Photo #4 is the co-author’s inscription on the loose front endpaper.)
The four books look attractive as a grouping for decoration, but are also valuable to the antiquarian book collector. The information on each book is below; we used the condition definitions from the Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA) and have noted all defects to the best of our abilities. None of the books have missing pages or writing on pages. Please feel free to request more photos and/or information. Enjoy!
